CSNYC is a New York City-based nonprofit focused on providing access to high-quality computer science (CS) education for all of New York City’s 1.1 million public school students.
Remaining competitive in the 21st century means that the next generation has to have digital fluency beyond posting to Instagram. But the digital divide isn’t just a rural vs. urban problem. Here in our hometown of New York City, there are areas without broadband and the access to learning it provides.
For MOD-Lab, the question became, “How can we organize CSNYC’s extensive content and resources in a way that is easily discoverable and simple to manage?” And because CSNYC was heading up a broad partnership, the look and feel of their brand needed to be present, but not domineering.
We have a website that aesthetically reflects both the human and technological sides of our mission. MOD-Lab patiently led us through the design and development process and has remained responsive since launch.
-Michael Preston, Executive Director, CSNYC
By 2025, all NYC public school students will receive at least one meaningful, high-quality CS learning experience in each grade. Because of CSNYC’s success in building a public-private partnership between the City of New York, the NYC Department of Education, and a group of nonprofit organizations they lead, there has been tremendous interest in scaling the model. Their vision has expanded to leading and facilitating a nationwide movement around computer science education for kids. MOD-Lab is proudly working with them on a new website to support that initiative.
